Independent candidate running for Levin's seat

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A protester facing charges of trespassing and obstructing police after spending 10 hours inside an Enbridge oil pipeline last year says he is now running for U.S. Senate.

According to M-Live, 35-year-old Chris Wahmhoff will be running for the seat held by democratic Senator Carl Levin, who is retiring.

Wahmhoff hasn't held an elected office before but says he hopes to bring accountability to corporate America and the federal government.

He plans to run as an independent candidate.

Republican Terri Lynn Land and democratic U.S. Representative Gary Peters are also running for Levin's seat.
