Father, daughter injured in snowmobile crash

HOWARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) A Niles man and his daughter are taken to the hospital after a driver backs into their snowmobile in Cass County.

It happened just after 4 p.m. Saturday, on Bame Ave. in Howard Township.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 33-year-old Keith Peterson and his 8-year-old daughter, Emily Peterson, were riding a snowmobile south on Bame. They say a 60-year-old man was pulling out of his driveway and the two vehicles collided.

Police say the snowmobile riders were wearing helmets and were taken to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The sheriff's department says alcohol may have been a factor, but the case is still under investigation.
