4-year-old boy found wandering

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Child Protective Services has taken in a young child after he was found wandering the streets in his pajamas Friday morning.

It happened on Dickinson SW shortly after 5:00 a.m.

Police were called and tracked the boy's footprints about two blocks back to his home. There was no one inside the home.

Police say that the child's mother needed to take another child to the hospital and left the boy at home because she knew the father would be home within the hour.

The boy woke up and went wandering.

The father returned home while police were there. Officers discovered that he had a warrant for criminal sexual conduct 2nd degree out of Kentwood. He was arrested and taken to jail.

Police say that the case has been turned over to Child Protective Services.

The father has been identified as 24-year-old Alfidio Benitez Cruz.
