UPDATE: Lowell teen in critical following a crash

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A teenager is in critical condition after a crash in Kent County's Lowell.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 11000 block of 36th Street.

Sheriff's deputies say a Ford Taurus was driving westbound on 36th Street when it attempted to avoid a truck that was stopped on the road to help a vehicle in the ditch.

The vehicle ended up in the ditch, possibly striking one of the vehicles before hitting a tree.

The driver of the Taurus, an 18-year-old female was not hurt. But a 17-year-old front passenger suffered several serious injuries, and is now in critical condition at Spectrum Butterworth.

Two other passengers were also injured, but are expected to be okay.
