SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH

Until 10 PM

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids and northern Indiana issues a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch counties until 10 PM.  Damaging wind gusts of 60 mph or greater are the primary concern.  Large hail of 1" in diameter or larger is a close second.  We'll be tracking storm development with Live Doppler Radar throughout your afternoon and evening.  Storm motion is easterly at 30 to 50 mph.  Stay with wwmt.com for the latest weather information!

Victim identified in fatal Cass Co. crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police have identified the victim in a fatal Cass County car crash this week as a young boy.

The County Sheriff identified the boy as 12-year-old Adrian Chiquito, of Niles.

Police say a 14-year-old was speeding along a snow-slicked road in Milton Township around 2:00 a.m. Monday when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

Chiquito, the passenger in the car, was killed, while the driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

There is no word yet on the extent of the driver's injuries.

Both boys were wearing seat belts.
