Regulators cracking down on weight loss ads

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Federal regulators are cracking down on deceptive weight loss ads.

Four companies have been ordered to return $34 million to consumers. They include Lean-Spa, HCQ Diet Direct and beauty products company L'occitane.

The maker of an additive called Sensa will pay the most at $26-million for claims that consumers could lose weight by simply sprinkling the powder on their food.
