The National Weather Service in northern Indiana issues a HIGH WIND WARNING in Berrien county until 11 PM for 60 mph, or higher, wind gusts.  65 mph gusts have already been confirmed in Michigan City.  

A WIND ADVISORY remains for nearly all of West Michigan until 2 AM.  45 mph to 55 mph gusts are likely and have already verified.  Downed tree branches and some power outages are possible.  The wind direction is from the north, and winds will easily be sustained in the 25 to 35 mph range.

Basement fire extensively damages home

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Investigators are looking into what caused a basement fire at Grand Haven home Wednesday.

Crews were called to the scene at 6:45 p.m. In the 300 block of Arlington Street.

When they Public Safety Officers from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety arrived, flames were seen from the basement.

Crews tried to get into the basement, but the flames and heat were too intense.

Crews inside quickly tried to evacuate and one fire fighter had to jump out of a window through the front of the home as the flames spread.

They were eventually able to put the fire out around 9:20 p.m.

According to the officers the fire damaged the home extensively.

The cause is still unknown at this time.
