GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two people are dead after a driver loses control of her car on icy roads and is hit by another vehicle.

It happened Saturday night around 8:05 p.m. on Mercury Drive near Robins Road. Police say

An Ottawa County sergeant says 53-year-old Gaylee Burns was heading north on Mercury Drive when she lost control on the icy, snow covered road.

Burns' car slid in the other lane broadside where it was hit by a truck driven by 47-year-old Scott Miller.

Witnesses say Miller was unable avoid hitting the vehicle, according to the sergeant.

Burns was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger, 55-year-old Lewis Burns Jr. was pinned in and had to be extricated.

Police say he later died of his injuries at the hospital.
