(NEWSCHANNEL 3) Police in Grand Rapids have issued a warning about scammers trying to take advantage of people who are desperate to adopt a child. The warning comes after a post on the Grand Rapids Craigslist page in the childcare section. It features a picture of a woman with a baby and reads We have this 11 month old baby girl, seeking an adoptive couple. The post goes on to say have you been looking for a child to no avail, then this is an opportunity for you to have one. We appreciate serious couples only, dont hesitate to contact us for detailed information and more pics of this child. But this is one post you do not want to respond to, the Grand Rapids Police Department says they checked into the posting and found out it is a financial scam coming out of England. This particular warning came from Grand Rapids, but Newschannel 3 found that this is something that has popped up all over the country. The ad is running, or ran, on Craigslist pages in dozens of cities all over the country. This version was sent to the Grand Rapids Police, and they issued the warning to inform people that it is a scam looking to take your money.
