Santa makes pit stop to help families in need in Van Buren Co.

PAW PAW, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Some local families in need celebrated Christmas a day early.

Santa took a pit stop at the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department to deliver a few gifts to some great kids Tuesday.

For the last 10 years, the department has been adopting families in need to give them a great Christmas.

"In years past, it's been just excitement, tears, a lot of families have cried over what they've received because they've had rough years, and we just like to help them out," said Grant Accountant Brigitte Vegter.

Thanks to donations from stores like Wal-Mart, Mejier, and Target, and through a series of fundraisers, they were able to provide things like toys, food, and clothes to three families this year, with 9 people in all.
