LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids maintains a LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY for Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Berrien, Cass, and St. Joe counties until 9 PM.  An additional 1" to 4" of snow are possible on northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph; icy roads are verified by several road reports.  Please be careful traveling as lows dip into the teens tonight; wind chills will be in the single digits.

Don't let the Christmas tree cause a fire

WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3 ) - Did you know that more than 200 American homes catch fire every Christmas season because of a Christmas tree?

These fires explode quickly and are known to be more deadly than others.

To give you a glimpse of just how sudden and scary a Christmas tree fire can be Newschannel 3 teamed up with Oshtemo Township Fire Department and the K-ZOO Fools.

Alex Jokich shows us what happened when they faced the flames in the video report above.
