Sheriff's dept. helps families

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Santa took a pit stop at the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department to deliver a few gifts to some great kids Tuesday.

For the last 10 years the department has been "adopting" families in need to give them a great Christmas.

"In years past, it's been just excitement, tears, a lot of families have cried over what they've received because they've had rough years and we just like to help them out," said Brigette Begteg.

Thanks to donations from stores like Walmart, Meijer and Target and through a serious of fundraisers they were able to provide things like toys, food and clothes to three families this year, equaling nine people in all.
