Glasses save girl in drive-by

SEATTLE (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Seattle teenager's glasses saved her life in a drive-by shooting.

"Glasses saved her life. I believe that. If she didn't have her glasses on, she wouldn't be here. And I thank god for that," said LaVette Bryant, the girl's mother.

According to police, on Saturday night 16-year-old Alonza Bryant was lying on her couch when her house was shot at.

Authorities say a bullet struck the bridge of her glasses and was deflected.

The glasses broke, but Alonza was not seriously injured.

According to police "someone" living at the house is involved in gangs, but they do not believe Alonza was the intended victim.

"I don't know why somebody did this to me. To our family, shoot our house," said Alonza.

Alonza was treated for her injuries. No one else was injured.

Gang detectives continue to investigate.
