Storm, outages affecting local businesses in W. Mich.

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - West Michigan continues to try to recover from an ice storm that knocked out power to thousands of people across the state this past weekend.

Barry County has been hit the hardest in West Michigan, as more than 7,000 people remain without power there.

In Ionia County, more than 1,000 are still waiting.

In Calhoun County, about 800 are without power, and in Kalamazoo County, just 192 remain in the dark.

Without power, many people changed their priorities during Christmas time.

Instead of spending any extra money on gifts for family and friends, they bought much needed supplies, inadvertently hurting small local shops.

Newschannel 3's Aaron Baskerville took a look at how the ice storm affected small businesses.
