High-speed chase ends in arrests

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Newschannel 3 is learning more, through dashcam video, about a dangerous chase that lead deputies winding though county roads at nearly 90 miles an hour, back in December.

Jake Shingledecker was arrested following that chase in Paw Paw. Deputies found him hiding in the woods, but only after trying to lose deputies in a grape vineyard near Decatur.

It all starts with a routine traffic stop, a deputy running the plates of a green pickup in Van Buren County.

The truck registered to Shingledecker. The deputy follows him into a bank, turning on his lights to try to pull him over.

The suspect circles the parking lot a second time and leads the deputy on a high-speed chase through town at nearly 90 miles an hour.

The entire time, the truck is weaving in and out of traffic, running red lights then traveling down miles of rural two-lane county roads.

It ends at a home near the intersection of County Road 669 and 82nd Ave. in Dectaur. The deputy follows the truck into a vineyard service road.

Shingledecker and his passenger run into the woods as several deputies jump from their car and chase after them.

The woman was arrested at the scene. A K-9 team later tracked down Shingledecker and arrested him.
