Stores bustling again with returns or exchanges
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Stores are bustling once again. Retailers say the day after Christmas is one of the busiest days of the year with customers lined up to return or exchange their gift from Santa.
We noticed those lines getting longer Thursday afternoon. There are some painless ways we saw customers get rid of those unwanted gifts.
"Unfortunately it didn't work it wasn't the right make and i had to return them," said Marcella Beard, Target customer.
"The 16 gigs don't have cameras on the back," said Taylor Pace, Target Customer
Whatever the reason, stores like Target and Best Buy are ready for those holiday returns.
"Today is busy sometimes if not busier even before Christmas," said Sue Armour, Best Buy General Manager.
There are ways to avoid the headaches. First Come early, to avoid those long lines.
"Keep the receipt - make sure to keep the receipt on everything cause you never know," said Pace.
"Even gift receipts will help us look things up very quickly," said Armour.
Make sure to act fast, the magic window is about two weeks without a receipt. For Best Buy, you have until January 15. Make sure to act quick before those prices change, you'll only get back the lowest price.
As for all those pesky gift cards you may never use, just head online to cardpool.com. There you can get up to 92 percent back in cash, shipped to you the next day.
For those gifts you don't have a receipt for, you could head to amazon.com. There you can find a trade-in program where you'll get online credit to shop on the website. Shipping is included.
If you're still in the spirit of giving you could head over to your local charity, or check out The Giving Effect, by clicking here.
