WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Gatherings in Kalamazoo, across US to ring in new year

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - All across the U.S., people are gathering together to ring in the new year.

In Kalamazoo, thousands are celebrating New Year's Fest--an event full of music, food, and family fun.

Despite the cold, people are keeping a good attitude, and at midnight, everyone will gather outside City Hall to see the ball drop.

Organizers and participants alike couldn't be happier with the festival, saying it has something for everyone.

Churches, businesses, and public spaces open up for the big festival.

There's plenty to do and see, from meeting some Disney princesses to Legos.

We caught a model of downtown Kalamazoo in Lego, looking much warmer than tonight.

In efforts to keep warm, partiers danced to tuba music, or retreated indoors to hear some warm jazzy tunes.

Now, it's all eyes on 2014, with people waiting for dozens of twinkling lights to drop, and the fireworks to follow.

We asked a few attendees what their new year's resolutions were.
