Man admits to DUI after crashing into house

HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 48-year old Hartford Township man is under arrest Thursday morning after sheriff's deputies say he crashed his SUV into a house.

It happened in the 65,000 block of 66th Avenue just before 10pm.

After speaking with the driver who admitted to drinking 4 or 5 beers, deputies determined the driver was traveling westbound on 66th Avenue when he lost control due to slippery road conditions.

They say he spun into the yard at and crashed into the residence. There was visible damage to the front of the residence, and minor damage to the front of the vehicle.

The driver voluntarily submitted to a Preliminary Breath Test.

The result of that test was a .103 BAC. A Datamaster chemical test was conducted at the VBC Jail with the result of .16 BAC.

The driver was arrested and lodged at the VBC Jail on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated, and this investigation has been turned over to the Van Buren County Prosecutor's Office. 

No one was injured inside the home.
