Poll: Adults fear that e-cig ads encourage teens
MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new poll shows Michigan adults fear e-cigarette ads may encourage more teens and children to try them.
The poll, done by the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital, found more than 44-percent worry about this.
Advocates argue they're a healthier choice because they don't burn tobacco, but instead users inhale a vapor from liquid containing nicotine.
But critics argue e-cigarettes just encourage teens and kids to smoke tobacco.
Currently, they are not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
26 states have regulations banning sales to minors. Michigan's legislature is currently working on one.
