Bear visits home in Florida on Christmas

FLORIDA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Florida family got a visitor of a different kind on Christmas, a bear.

It was caught red-handed on camera in search of a late-night snack just hours after the family says it served Christmas dinner.

"I came downstairs thinking someone might be in my house," said Tramaine Gaines. "I went to go open the door and the bear's behind was pressed against the glass. He bust through and came to this can where he thought a turkey was in there."

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says bears will eat almost anything as they pack on extra calories before winter.

Because they can smell food from a mile away, leaving food or garbage out can be pretty temping
