Longtime Battle Creek storefront opens for last time ever

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A jewelry store is open for the last time ever, this Christmas Eve.

After more than 80 years, Pearlman's Jewelry in Battle Creek is going to online sales only.

The West Michigan Avenue store has been a gem in the downtown area for generations.

Bill Pearlman says he knew his industry was in for a change after he bought his son a computer.

Since then, he created a website that has been doing ten times more in business than his storefront ever has.

"The hardest thing is watching people who have done business with us for decades that's the hardest part," said Bill Pearlman, owner.

Pearlman says he plans to keep the sale going through mid-January. The storefront will then be leased out.
