Skaters come to Charity on Ice for a good time and good cause

PORTAGE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - It's the season of giving, and Saturday night, several local organizations teamed up for a fun charity event.

The Courthouse Athletic Center sponsored this year's Charity on Ice at Millennium Park. Families enjoyed ice skating, holiday music and Christmas movies on a big screen, all while supporting a great cause.

According to coordinator Geoffrey Cripe, "The point was to get people out, something that was fun and active rather, than just sitting around inside. Something that has a festive nature to it. What better than ice skating and a movie?"

The event raised awareness for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, the Portage Community Center and the Salvation Army.
