Police identify jogger killed crossing road
KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We're learning new information Tuesday morning about the jogger killed while crossing the road in Kent County Monday night.
The Kent County Sheriff's Department has identified the victim as 51-year-old James Donald Kelley from Cascade Township.
The accident happened around six at the intersection of Hall Street and Cascade Road near Forest Hills.
They say the Kelley was crossing the street when he was hit by a Cadillac driven by 45-year-old Joseph Belote.
"The driver had the green light, we have other witnesses that also were traveling the same direction, in this case eastbound through the intersection. Other drivers, neutral witnesses that are saying the light was green," said Lt. Troy Woodwyk of the Kent County Sheriff's Dept.
Authorities say the driver may not have seen Kelley because of the low lighting in that area.
The crash remains under investigation.
