Suspect in woman's disappearance sentenced for assault
KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man awaiting trial in the death and disappearance of a Kent County woman is heading to prison for an earlier assault.
Jahleel Hoskins was sentenced Monday to 25 to 75 years for attacking Kenneth Harris in a parking lot back in February.
He was found guilty of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
Prosecutors say it was that crime that led to the strangling of his then girlfriend 26-year-old Latrice Maze. They say Hoskins wanted to prevent her from telling police about the assault.
She was reported missing on March 20th. Her body has never been found.
Hoskins is set to be tried for Maze's murder on December 4th.
