Two WMU dorms set to come down this month
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two dorms at Western Michigan University that have been standing for 50 years are set to come down this month.
Hoekje Hall opened in 1959, and Bigelow Hall opened in 1961.
Both were named after WMU professors.
Over the years, the halls have been home to more than tens of thousands of students.
Demolition is underway at Hoekje, and crews are set to begin work on Bigelow Hall on Monday.
Both halls are being demolished to make way for new campus residence halls.
