Hundreds march for immigration reform in Kzoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) Leaders, workers and students from across West Michigan came to Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon. They were calling for immigration reform as part of the National Day of Action.
According to Michigan United, hundreds gathered in Bronson Park, stopping at Rep. Fred Upton's office. Marchers called on Upton to cosponsor the immigration reform bill Democrats introduced in late September, before the government shutdown. The march also went by immigrant-owned businesses and restaurants that serve Michigan-grown food.
Over 200 people were expected to share their stories, including an 11-year old boy whose father was deported in June.
