Low-flying helicopters part of power line checks
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Low-flying helicopters are expected to be seen throughout western Michigan this month as part of a power line inspection effort.
MLive.com reports the Oct. 8-15 flyovers are for ITCTransmission and Michigan Electric Transmission Co.
The inspections are part of regular procedures. The low-altitude flights will cover western and southwest Michigan, looking for lightning damage, wear and other problems.
ITCTransmission and Michigan Electric Transmission are subsidiaries of Novi-based ITC Holdings Corp.
