Kentwood woman enters no contest plea in fatal crash
KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 76-year-old woman was arraigned Tuesday in Kentwood District Court on charges of a moving violation causing death.
Back in May, Kentwood Police say Gloria VanPutten pulled out of a driveway on East Paris Avenue and was hit by another car traveling down the road.
A good Samaritan named Margaret Pittman reportedly saw the accident and tried to help VanPutten.
When she reached for the car door, police say VanPutten's car accelerated, running over Pittman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
VanPutten faces a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine.
On Tuesday, she entered a 'no contest' plea.
