Suspect to be charged Fri. in trooper's shooting death
MASON COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 19-year-old accused of shooting and killing a Michigan State Trooper could face a judge on Friday.
Eric Knysz is scheduled to be arraigned in Ludington late Friday afternoon.
He's been in the hospital recovering, after being shot in the leg during a shoot-out with police on Monday.
Investigators say Trooper Paul Butterfield pulled over Knysz and his pregnant wife Sarah, Monday night in Sheridan Township.
They say Knysz opened fire, shooting Trooper Butterfield in the head.
The couple was taken into custody just hours later.
Sarah Knysz choked back tears on Wednesday as she was arraigned on charges related to stealing a vehicle and being an accessory after the fact.
Her husband Eric will be charged with multiple felonies, including the murder of a police officer, as soon as he is released from the hospital.
