Muskegon church holds last service after 146 years
MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) - Members of a Muskegon church that has been around since the Civil War will need to find a new place to worship this Sunday.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports that the First Christian Reformed Church held its final service Sunday and pews were packed.
It was about 90 minutes of singing, communion, sermons and remembering.
Church officials say declining membership and financial issues are the main reasons the church closed. The building itself is for sale.
