Suspect arraigned in Dowagiac home invasion case
DOWAGIAC, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A suspect has been arraigned on multiple charges stemming from a home invasion on Monday.
28-year-old Maria Milam of Lawton was arraigned on charges of 1st degree home invasion, domestic assault, and driving on a suspended license.
Police responded at around 10:00 p.m. Monday night to a call in the 500 block of Hill Street, which alleged that Milam had just forced her way into a residence.
Once inside, police say Milam assaulted the male caller, left with a small child, and fled the scene in a vehicle.
Officers found the car on Colby Street, near Dewey Street in the city, and conducted a traffic stop.
Milam was arrested and lodged at the Cass County Jail.
She and the unidentified male victim are believed to be the biological parents of the child who was taken in the incident.
The child was unharmed.
The case remains under investigation.
