Antonio Lewis sentenced to up to 80 years in death of brother
VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man convicted of murdering his younger brother was sentenced to up to 80 years behind bars on Monday.
Antonio Lewis was convicted of second-degree murder back in July for the death of Ivory Shaver III.
Shaver went missing in November of 2011, and his body was found four months later in an irrigation ditch in Covert Township.
Chief Prosecuting Attorney Keith Robinson told Newschannel 3 that Lewis is both a liar and a murderer, who tried to manipulate loved ones and investigators.
"He was watching the news daily," Robinson said. "Three times a day, he would record the news, we believed to see whether or not the police or someone found his brother's body. This was during the period of time between the killing and the discovery of the body."
"He should not be out in society again," Robinson added. "He is a dangerous person."
Lewis told Newschannel 3 that he's already planning an appeal to his conviction.
