Cleanup continues in Albion after storm
ALBION, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The National Weather Service is revealing its assessment of a microburst that ravaged the city of Albion Wednesday night.
The force of the straight-line wind was equivalent to an EF-0 tornado.
The worst damage stretches nearly 2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide, right through the heart of the city.
Thousands remain without power Thursday night, even though the storm only lasted minutes.
But homeowners and business owners could be cleaning up for some time, and the Albion College campus won't be open again until Monday.
Tree branches and debris remain piled up in yards, and even though crews have been out all day, there's still a lot of work ahead.
Power is back on to much of the city at this point, but there are still some spots in the dark.
Consumers Energy hopes to get everyone back online by Friday.
Albion is still closed and will remain that way until Monday.
