2 people shot near WMU's campus
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The search is on for a gunman who fired during a house party near Western Michigan University's campus Sunday morning.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers and WMU Police were called to WMU's Fraternity Village around 2 a.m.
Witnesses tell us it happened at a house with the symbols "Phi Beta Sigma".
Western Michigan University officials say the incident happened in the parking lot of the frat.
Officials say the mayhem started when some unwanted guests crashed a party.
Witnesses say a fight started and then a brick and grill were thrown through a window.
That's when shots were fired. Police tell us three people were shot and taken to the hospital.
A Western Michigan University spokesperson said there were only two shot.
WMU officials say the victims were not WMU students. They suffered minor injuries.
School officials say they do not believe there have been any problems with this fraternity in the past.
They will be investigating this incident but do not believe any disciplinary actions will be taken.
