Beef recalled over salmonella concerns
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A major beef producer has issued a recall because of concerns about salmonella.
The National Beef Packing Company based in Kansas is recalling 50,000 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated.
It's the company's second recall this summer.
So far, no one has gotten sick.
The beef was sold to markets, wholesalers and food service distributors around the country, and has the establishment number "208 a" inside the USDA Mark of Inspection. The meat was "shipped in 40 to 60 pound cases to retailers, wholesalers and food service distributors nationwide," the USDA said in a news release. It was produced on July 18 and has a use by/freeze by date of August 7.
