Color Run returns to GR
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A sellout crowd raced from the starting gates Saturday at Calder Plaza as the Color Run returned to Grand Rapids.
The purpose of the 5K is to promote healthiness and individuality. Every kilometer, runners are doused with a palette of colors.
The event is open to participants of all skill levels. There are no race winners and no time is kept. According to organizers, it's the first 5K for over 60 percent of the runners.
Color Run organizers plan to hold 100 runs across the country, with an estimated one million runners.
Tickets for the event sold out. The charity partner for the event was the West Michigan Sports Commission.
