Amash shares thoughts on NSA program
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - West Michigan republican Justin Amash appeared on Fox News Sunday program, sharing his thoughts on the National Security Agency surveillance program controversy.
It's important to understand that what the Justice Department and intelligence community are relying on is a third party doctrine. They are saying that because you've given your data, because it's shared with a third party, it becomes public property," said Rep. Justin Amash.
It's been less than two weeks since Amash unsuccessfully attempted to block the NSA's ability to collect the phone data of Americans.
Amash has been a very vocal opponent of the program since it was exposed by Edward Snowden.
He also called Snowden a whistleblower, not a traitor, and while he didn't offer complete support for Snowden, he did say quote "he told us what we needed to know."
