Mich. corporations becoming scam target
LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan corporations are becoming the targets of a scam.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says a non-governmental entity called Corporate Records Service is trying to collect a $125 fee to prepare corporate records.
Department officials say the scam implies that Michigan requires corporations to complete an annual corporate records form and is designed to look like an official document; but it is not.
Any corporation that receives the document is being asked to keep the notice, mailing envelope and return envelope.
You are then encouraged to contact the U.S. Postal Inspector's services at (877)876-2455, or contact the Michigan Attorney General.
