Man arrested for beating ex-girlfirend, violating parole
HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 41-year-old man is facing multiple charges after assaulting his ex-girlfriend and violating his parole, police say.
It happened just after midnight Friday on the 59000 block of Jerrdean Drive.
They say the suspect, Trelas Braddock, assaulted and strangled his ex-girlfriend and tried to disrupt her 9-1-1 call. Then, when the woman tried to lock herself in the house, deputies say Braddock forced his way in and assaulted her again before fleeing the scene.
Police learned that Braddock had been paroled two days before. They say he was violating his parole by drinking. With the help of search dogs, deputies were able to locate and arrest him.
The victim, a 28-year-old woman from the Hartford area, suffered a bloody lip, bloody nose, a bite to the arm and a swollen cheek. She drove herself to the hospital.
The Van Buren County prosecutors office has authorized charges of home invasion second degree, domestic assault third offense, assault by strangulation, interfering with telecommunications and parole violation against Braddock.
