Hatchet attack suspect found competent to stand trial
WYOMING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Wyoming woman accused of attacking her parents with a hatchet and a knife was back in court Wednesday.
Amber Wilson is charged with attempted murder and felonious assault.
Police say back in March she went into her parent's bedroom and attacked her mother with a hatchet while she was sleeping.
Officers say she then stabbed her stepfather as he tried to wrestle the hatchet away from her.
Both of them recovered from their injuries.
A judge found Wilson competent to stand trial, but earlier this month her attorney asked that she have another psychiatric evaluation.
At Wednesday’s hearing Wilson was again found competent to stand trial on the charges against her.
