Suspect looking for plea deal over stabbing
ALLEGAN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An Otsego veteran charged with attempted murder is reportedly looking to take a plea deal.
Prosecutors say Anthony McFarlane stabbed Adam Laws in the stomach outside of an Otsego apartment in January.
But McFarlane's family claims Laws is the one who started the fight and that McFarlane was just acting in self-defense.
The Allegan County News is reporting McFarlane plans to plead no contest to assault with a dangerous weapon in exchange for the other charges being dropped.
If the judge approves the plea deal McFarlane's attorney says he would be transferred to the Ionia County Veteran's Treatment Court.
