Accused of stealing from one she was supposed to be helping
LOWELL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A Lowell woman is facing two counts of larceny, accused of stealing from a woman she was supposed to be helping.
48-year-old Tracy Mata is alleged to have acted as a volunteer caregiver to a 91-year-old woman just so she could steal from her.
Over a period of 18 months, police say Mata stole several thousands of dollars from the woman.
Mata is facing one count of larceny in a building, punishable by up to four years and or a $5,000 fine and one count of larceny from a person, punishable by up to ten years in state prison.
Mata will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 7th.
