15 applications in for Portage Superintendent position

PORTAGE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - More than a dozen candidates are hoping to become the next Superintendent of Portage Public Schools.

M-Live is reporting that 15 people have already applied for the job.

The district is expecting to have 20 to 25 candidates by March 15th and then start narrowing down that pool at the end of the month.

This will be Portage's third superintendent in the past three years after Ric Perry stepped down in January.

Perry was hired after the board paid $300,000 to buy out former Superintendent Marsha Wells' contract in 2011.
