Suspicious death now a homicide investigation

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Auptosy results shared with Newschannel 3 late Monday afternoon confirmed that a Valley Township man found dead in his home Saturday died of gunshot wounds.

The story broke on Saturday, when investigators found the body of 37-year-old Jody Snyder.

Monday, Allegan County Sheriff's investigators confirmed that the death is a homicide.

Court documents obtained by Newschannel 3 show Snyder had a long history of run-ins with the law.

He's been found guilty of attempting to obstruct a police officer, and less than two months ago, he was convicted of assault and battery.

In that case, he was ordered to stay away from his son, Seth, but it turns out they lived together.

"(It) sounds like there was a lot of traffic in and out of the residence the day before, so we're just trying to pin down exactly who was there and speak with them," said Captain Frank Baker with the Allegan County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators say the shooting does not appear to be random.

So far, there are no suspects in the case.
