WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Six Michigan dam removal or repair projects are getting a big boost.
The Department of Natural Resources is giving them more than $2 million in funding.
The Otsego dam on the Kalamazoo River is one of the projects on the list.
The dams were installed when paper mills lined the rivers decades ago.
Removing them is a delicate process, though, because it could stir up contaminated sediments from the bottom of the river.
