Teen pleads in fatal shooting over homework

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 14-year-old from Walker could spend decades in prison after admitting to a deadly shooting.

M-Live is reporting that Jared Seagraves pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of his sister's boyfriend Michael Haminger.

Investigators believe Seagraves shot Haminger because they were arguing over homework.

Reports say as part of the plea agreement Seagraves will be placed in a juvenile facility until he turns 21.

He will then be sent to prison to serve the rest of his sentence.

A sentencing date has not been set.
