GRPD to soon get new technology for cruisers
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Grand Rapids Police are about to get some extra eyes in their fight against crime.
The department has installed automated license plate recognition in some of its cruisers.
It uses cameras to scan plates and compare them to databases for things like stolen cars, arrest warrants, and outstanding parking tickets.
The systems are attached to patrol cars assigned to four service areas of the city.
