H&R filing error delays refunds for many

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - More than half a million people are seeing big delays in their tax refunds due to a filing error at H&R Block.

Apparently the IRS changed the way it processes certain "yes" or "no" questions and some preparers at H&R Block forgot about or didn't even know about the switch.

This glitch only applies to form 88-63 which is used to claim educational credits.

The IRS says about 660,000 people could be affected.

The mistake could delay refunds up to six weeks for customers who filed their tax returns before February 22nd.

And remember, our Newschannel 3 on-air “Tax Clinics" start March 25th. On that Monday and every Monday until Tax Day, we will bring a tax expert into the studio to answer your questions.

Send in your questions to mornings@wwmt.com or post them on our WWMT Facebook page.
