Play performance cancelled after car crash

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A high school in Calhoun County canceled a school play performance after a few cast members were involved in a car accident.

The crash happened Friday night at 9:15 p.m., near Old 27, just south of I-94 in Marshall.

Police told Newschannel 3 that there were five teenagers in a car getting ready to turn into Denny's.

A pickup truck going the opposite direction was also turning into the Denny's at the time, but officers say the teenagers' car did not yield and hit the pickup.

One teen was extricated, while four were taken to area hospitals.

Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.

According to the Battle Creek Enquirer, the students inside the car attend Pennfield High School, and were cast members in the play "Straight from the Horse's Mouth."

The Saturday evening performance was canceled.

There is no word on whether or not the play will be rescheduled.
