'Person of interest' arrested in Ga. for Mattawan shooting

ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A person of interest in a deadly Mattawan party shooting is behind bars in Georgia tonight.

Sources tell us US Marshals arrested 25 year-old Daniel Williams on a parole violation at a home just outside Atlanta on Monday.

Investigators developed this person early on as a possible suspect, but he fled the area and they had been looking for him ever since.

State records show Williams has served time before for drug offenses and larceny.

We're told he's a person of interest in an outbreak of violence a week ago from last Sunday at a party at Antwerp Township Hall.

27 year old Ricardo Parker was gunned down in cold blood and killed. The father of two also leaves behind a pregnant fiance.

Investigators say security guards with wands were hired for the party themed "Black Elegance," but the shooter still managed to sneak his handgun inside.

We're also told after Parker was shot in the chest, Antonio Nelson of Battle Creek was jumped and beaten into a coma.

Michigan State Police would not detail what linked the person of interest to the violence at the party, just saying witness statements helped its fugitive team track him down.
